Roadmap to X

To capitalise on car makers’ expansion in the new markets, many parts suppliers are thinking of going international.

In a cooperation project called Roadmap to X (R2X), the Automotive Cluster aims to encourage a model that would see several companies that complement each other and can exploit synergies enter the market together. Companies can negotiate the first hurdles of market entry more easily and efficiently if they join forces. Companies that use similar structures can successfully address many issues together, thereby minimising the risk. The Automotive Cluster has already successfully accompanied two consortia with a total of ten companies as they took their first measures.

These companies have complementary strengths, compensate for each others’ weaknesses and create synergies by pooling their resources. By so doing, they spread the risk and share some of their business processes.

Roadmap to IRAN

Iran has the potential to become one of the most important markets for Austrian companies in the Near and Middle East and offers enormous business opportunities.

With the joint project “R2IRAN”, Business Upper Austria’s Automotive Cluster supports companies as they prepare for possible entry into the Iranian market. The project is looking for interested companies wishing to play an active role. Many issues can be addressed collectively to minimise the risk and enter this highly coveted new market more quickly.

Join the consortium - the new consortium is slated to start in November 2016. You will find more detailed information on the R2IRAN product sheet (PDF).

Roadmap to NAFTA

Interest in the NAFTA region remains unbroken. To this end, the Upper Austrian Automotive Cluster will support companies’ measures to develop new markets with the Roadmap to NAFTA (R2NAFTA) project.

The project is looking for interested companies wishing to play an active role. The companies have complementary strengths, compensate for each others’ weaknesses and create synergies by pooling resources. By so doing, they spread the risk and share some of their business processes.

Join the consortium - the project is slated to start in March 2016. You will find more detailed information on the R2NAFTA product sheet (PDF).

The AC has already successfully launched two other "Roadmap to X" (R2X) cooperation projects:

Roadmap 2 China

Partners

MARK Metallwarenfabrik GmbH, STARLIM Spritzguss GmbH, GTech Automatisierungstechnik GmbH

Content

The project supports companies seeking a cooperative approach to entering the Chinese market. To this end, synergies with the partner companies are to be exploited as efficiently as possible and the companies will support each other to facilitate market entry.

Result and further development

Together, essential information on the market was gathered which served as the basis of a business plan. This procedure showed which resources could be allocated cost-effectively and which location could be considered. Experience exchange meetings ensured an efficient flow of information within the consortium.

Roadmap 2 NAFTA

Partners

TCG Unitech GmbH, Intensa Technische Dienstleistungen GmbH & Co KG, Eybl Austria GmbH, Rupert Fertinger GmbH

Content

Leading on from the Roadmap 2 China project, the AC companies were supported in developing a cooperative approach to entering the market in the USA or Mexico. To this end, synergies with the partner companies are to be exploited as efficiently as possible and the companies will support each other to facilitate market entry.

Result and further development

A market analysis was conducted to gather relevant information from each of the countries. This information was then shared with the consortium on a joint platform. In the second stage, experts were invited to a consultants’ hearing and asked about particular issues such as legal and cross-cultural aspects, infrastructure .... In a next step, experience exchange meetings will be organised to which companies will be invited that have already opened offices in the NAFTA region (e.g.: Brose, Continental, …).
