International one-on-one cooperation meeting - Dutch automotive technology mission

Automotive industry in the Netherlands
The Dutch automotive sector has grown exponentially in recent years, from a relatively unknown and fragmented patchwork of activities to a well organized, self-assured network with a clear development strategy. While there are relatively few OEMs (e.g.: Mitsubishi in Born), the entire automotive knowledge and production chain is represented. The Dutch automotive sector comprises mainly suppliers, with special strengths in materials, mechatronics, embedded systems and heavy-duty vehicles.

Approximately 42.500 people are employed in the automotive industry (OEMs, suppliers, R&D institutions and other automotive companies). The automotive industry is concentrated in the southeast of the Netherlands in the area referred to as Brainport – over 50% of the Dutch automotive employment is found here – and in the mid-eastern part of the Netherlands which is home to many automotive companies.
